what you can do with a box brownie

A little while ago I wrote this

And finally I've managed to go through the contents, not the letters though...please don't think this is too odd, but I have a favourite place, and I've bought a little wooden chest, and, well, given the letters a decent burial with all of the gravitas I could muster.

But - would you like to see some of the contents of the box? I've been toying with the idea of buying a scanner, I just need an ickle 'push'...

Yea by a scanner. Altho, I got one & the novelty soon wore off. I use it occasionally!

Taking high resolution photo's don't do the justice that a scanner can do with documents. I think it is a good investment and also a way to salvage some of the photos that have been damaged a bit or are too fragile to frame.

It is truly a good investment for recording purposes.

BTW, I am ever so sorry about my horrible grammar. Blame it on the American public schools...oh yeah, I'm from the south too. ;-)

Come on Colin... You really want a nice scanner. Even a cheaper one does a great job. I bought an HP Scanjet 3970 and it does a wonderful job on old photos, documents, even a few medals and such. You'd be amazed how you can scan the photo or document, tweak it in an editting program and then have it reprinted... I was able to get my hands on some of the very old photos from my late grandparents this way. My mom still has the originals and now I have mine.

Also, it is very good for record keeping.

I think you should buy a scanner, but only if you will scan in at least one picture of yourself as a child. The little boy Fishie. I want to see that. Oh please, oh please?
