sing me a rainbow

I’ve got a thing about colour (yes c o l o u r).

A childlike delight in great swags of blues and reds, primary colours on the biggest canvasses I can find, my walls. It’s probably an indicator of a lack of sophistication on my behalf, or of nuance, style and subtlety, but I can’t do pastels. I have no affinity with lilac. Beige, rose, lavender and peach are anathema to me.

My decorating skills are as unsophisticated as my taste. The colour I’ve chosen goes on to the wall without preparation with a splish, splash, splosh. I can’t be bothered with fiddly bits, the corners, or staying in the lines. I’ve painted round wardrobes in the past just to hurry the moment where I can step back and enjoy the overall effect.

Nothing’s safe, there’s generally as much paint on me as there is on the walls. I’ve had purple hands, bright yellow hair and on one occasion a pillar box red dog when Charlie pushed the bathroom door open and fell sleep under the radiator in there. I had to literally tear him off the wall in the morning.

On a different note or a sloppy segue, I finally have a appointment to see the neurologist for my scan. February the 14th, how’s that for a Valentine’s day? Perhaps they’ll discover what the problem is – or perhaps I’ll take photo’s of my home and I won’t need surgery after all, just 20 gallons of insipid paint….

I don't find your colo(u)r palette unsophisticated at all. I don't think your reds and blues are the pure primaries (though it's hard to tell from photos)--they're a bit more complex than that. I don't decorate in pastels, either.

And, what does "a spanner" mean? Is that some Brit-lingo? Maybe I'll google and teach myself some international slang.

I wish I had the nads to go with a big color on my walls. But, alas, I don't. They scare me. (I think it's the choosing process that scares me.) My husband wanted a room with a deep dark color. I let him have the little half bath in the mudroom to decorate (yes, LET him have). I hate that room, and of ALL colors he chose to paint a teeny tiny room - a bathroom - he chose babypoop gold. YUCK! I hate that room. I'll stick to my light colored yellows and greens and decorate with color instead. I'm 'safer' that way! But your walls work wonderfully! BTW, I posted the lady, and other pics of the place.

My, my what on earth have I missed in a mere week. Glad Spain was good and the dogs are happy again. Although, your decorating penchant is causing some concern.

The woman who owned this house before me loved yellow, every room was some shade of lemon, or mustard, or buttercup. I still have 3 yellow rooms left to cover. Ugh, I don't care if I never see yellow again.

I think your choice in color matches your personality. You're a very versatile person and enjoy to have different atmospheres. I actually find it really inviting and I'm sure most of your friends do also.

I'm happy to hear about your neurologist appointment finally getting scheduled. I'm sorry it is on Valentines day... :-(
